Sansei Sushi Special, Passion Fruit Martini Recipe Included

I seem to be looking for inspiration for our products everywhere I go. Last night was no different. I did a ride along with my husband to look at condos in the Waikoloa Beach Resort area. He is a real estate broker here on the Big Island. We had decided ahead of time that we would be having dinner out. We stopped in at the Queen shops, in Waikoloa, to head for sushi. There is a great sushi restaurant there called Sansei. It tends to be a bit pricey but we were both in the mood for sushi.

When we arrived we were about 10 minutes before opening time. There was a sign on the door letting us know about their special. It read 25% off on all food items from 5:30-6:00 Tuesday through Friday. We were in luck, it was a Tuesday. WOW, 25%, for real? That takes care of the overpriced issue.

They opened the doors and seated us right away. The only food items not covered on the special were ones with asterisk next to them. There were only a few of those; things like lobster had asterisks of course. We immediately checked out the drink menu. My husband ordered the cucumber martini. I noticed a passion cosmo with cranberry juice. I must admit that I compare what the different bars around town do with their Hawaiian passion fruit (lilikoi) drinks so I gave it a try. Turns out, it was really good. So, I quickly jotted down the ingredients so I could attempt to recreate it at home and then of course, share it with you. Here’s what I came up with.

I had a passion fruit Cosmopolitan while visiting a local sushi restaurant. Turns out it was really good! I quickly jotted down the ingredients so I could attempt to recreate it at home and then of course, share it with you. Here's what I came up with.

Ingredients

• 1 Ice
• 1 oz Lilikoi Cocktail Mix
• 1 oz Cranberry Juice Cocktail Mix
• 1 -2 oz Vodka
• 1 Lime (optional)

Instructions

1. Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake until well mixed and chilled.
2. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with a slice of lime.
3. Double up the recipe to enjoy with friends or loved ones.

Side note about Sansei; if you order everything you want for the time you are there at the beginning you will get 25% off on all of it. We looked though the entire menu and ordered our cocktails, pupu’s (Hawaiian for appetizers), main course and dessert all before the 30 minute special was up. We then asked our waitress to spread things out a bit. We didn’t want to get it all at once.
